Moral Decline

Documenting The Moral Decline That Threatens To Destroy America

Homosexual "Dads" Celebrated Father's Day At Saddleback Church With Rick Warren, Author Of "The Purpose Driven Life"

This past Father's Day, a group of radical homosexual activists and their families and allies attended Saddleback Church, the church pastored by Rick Warren, author of The Purpose Driven Life.

The following day, they shared a private meal with leaders from Saddleback Church and held private discussions with them.

Now, homosexuals are just as valuable in the eyes of God as anyone else, but church leaders do them an extreme disservice by encouraging their sinful behavior instead of helping them get set free from it.

This visit to Rick Warren's "church" was the concluding event of a six week "gay friendly family" road trip by a group of radical homosexual activists. The activists sought to initiate "dialogue" with megachurches across the nation.

But of course the activists were not interested in what Scripture had to say at all.

In December 2007, organizers of this project named "The American Family Outing" invited the key leaders of 6 of the largest megachurches in America to match families from their congregations with homosexual "families" for a meal and conversation. The "outing" commenced on Mother’s Day 2008 when the activists attended Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church in Houston.

Perhaps someone should have shared this Scripture during all of those meetings:

Romans 1:26-27

"Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion."

God loves homosexuals and wants to deliver them and set them free. By affirming their sinful behavior, church leaders are just harming them more in the long run.

Wow--this is truly sad. Please begin to reflect the love of the God you boast and quit hiding your bigotry behind a religous smoke screen. Anyone who uses Romans as a means of judging and condemning ANYONE OF ANYTHING, clearly does not understand Paul's message here. Especially, when you prooftext two verses.

To understand the meaning from scripture, one must understand culture, context, custom and langauge. People don't understand meaning behind scripture. They merely pull whatever can be twisted to back their opinion. As a fundamentalist, I was always quick to use scripture as a weapon to bring divine authority to my personal opinion.

Literality of scripture is a huge stumbling block for todays Christians. However, the fact of the matter is that Jesus, himself (and other first century Jews) didn't believe the Torah to be literally true. At least they did not subscribe to God's very specific instruction in regards to Sabbath Observance. Rather, they saw such inspirations as exactly that. We should begin seeing the true message behind scripture and follow the lead of the relgion's cornerstone. We should simply seek personal and intimate relationships with God and live love and compassion driven lives.

If gay people want to get married, let them get married. Let your religious smoke screen clear...put your bigoted heart aside and just love your brothers and sisters.

Love to all,
Scott
