Fooled By The Bushes

One of the biggest con jobs in U.S. political history was pulled on American conservatives over the past decade, and most of them still don't even realize it.  For two elections, and for over 8 years, George and Laura Bush portrayed themselves as true conservatives who were willing to fight for Christian values.  Well, it turns out that the Bushes were never "conservative" at all.  In fact, in public statement after public statement they have denied the very basics of the Christian faith.  For example, during a recent interview with Larry King, former first lady Laura Bush revealed that she is actually in favor of legalized gay marriage and a woman's "right" to abortion.

This is a woman that conservative women all over the country have looked up to and have endlessly praised.

So what are they supposed to think now?

The truth is that Christians and conservatives collectively spent millions of hours working to get the Bushs into the White House under the assumption that they were conservative Christians.

But Laura Bush sounded very much like Hillary Clinton during this interview with Larry King....

What is that quote that George W. Bush gets criticized for so much?  Something about not getting fooled again?....

There's an old saying in Tennessee - I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee - that says, fool me once, shame on - shame on you. Fool me - you can't get fooled again.

Well, it turns out that the Bushs fooled us over and over and over and over.

But sadly, the truth is that the signs were there all along, but conservatives and Christians did not want to see them....

*George W. Bush was a member of the Satanic Skull & Bones Society:

http://www.cuttingedge.org/news/n1314.cfm

*George W. Bush's gay/lesbian policies were identical to Bill Clinton's:

http://www.cuttingedge.org/news/n1652.cfm

*George W. Bush openly worshipped in Islamic mosques and Buddist temples:

http://chuckbaldwinlive.com/bushshintoshrine.html

*George W. Bush publicly said that the Muslim God and the Christian God are the same thing:

http://www.cuttingedge.org/news_updates/nz1528.htm

*George W. Bush actually INCREASED funding for the Planned Parenthood abortion mills:

http://www.covenantnews.com/lefemine050208.htm

Are you starting to get the picture?

The reality is that in his interviews with the press, George W. Bush was very open about the fact that he does not believe what Christians believe.

In one absolutely stunning interview near the end of his second term, George W. Bush actually said that the Bible is "probably not" literally true, that he prays to the same God that other major religions such as Islam do and that he believes in the scientific evidence for Darwinism.

This is his exact quote when he was asked if he believed that the Bible was literally true....

"Probably not. No, I'm not a literalist, but I think you can learn a lot from it."

The cold, hard reality is that George W. Bush has never embraced evangelical Christianity.

For example, George W. Bush publicly said many times that Christians, Muslims and all other religions pray to the exact same God. In fact, Bush says that he prays to the God of Islam, that non-Christians and Muslims will go to heaven and that he has "nothing but praise" for Islam.

You don't believe this?

Check this out.

The following a portion of a transcript of an interview during which Charles Gibson of ABC asked George W. Bush his thoughts about religion.....

CHARLES GIBSON: Do we all worship the same God, Christian and Muslim?

PRESIDENT BUSH: I think we do.

CHARLES GIBSON: Does ...

PRESIDENT BUSH: We have different routes of getting to the Almighty.

(Later in the interview.....)

CHARLES GIBSON: Do Christians and non-Christians and Muslims go to heaven in your mind?

PRESIDENT BUSH: Yes, they do. We have different routes of getting there.

But it wasn't just during the Charles Gibson interview that George W. Bush declared himself to be a universalist.....

In a shocking interview with Al Arabiya television, Bush said the following....

"I believe in an almighty God, and I believe that all the world, whether they be Muslim, Christian, or any other religion, prays to the same God."

During that same interview Bush also said this....

"I believe there is a universal God. I believe the God that the Muslim prays to is the same God that I pray to. After all, we all came from Abraham. I believe in that universality."

During one trip to Iraq, Bush is reported to have made this statement....

"I want you to convey this message to Mr. Sistani. Tell him that I pray to the same god he prays to... Tell Sistani I have nothing but praise for your religion."

Now does any of that sound "Christian" to you?

According to George W. Bush, Jesus must have been mistaken in John 14:6 when He said this.....

"I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

How in the world can anyone continue to claim that the Bushs are conservatives or that they are evangelical Christians?

The truth is that they never have been.

It is time for conservatives to face up to the truth....

We got fooled by the Bushes.

Great Apostasy

Christians around the world are rapidly abandoning many of the beliefs that Christianity has taught for centuries. For example, a new nationwide survey conducted by The Barna Group has actually revealed that most American Christians do not believe that Satan or the Holy Spirit exists. Even the Pope decided that it would be a good idea to quote from the Hindu scriptures during his Good Friday prayer.

What in the world is happening?

It is called apostasy.

It has been happening for a long time and now the majority of Christians do not even believe that Satan or the Holy Spirit exists. Here is some of the data from Barna's survey:

*40% of American Christians strongly agreed that Satan “is not a living being but is a symbol of evil” and an additional 19% of American Christians said that they “agree somewhat” with that statement.

*38% of American Christians strongly agreed and 20% of American Christians agreed somewhat that the Holy Spirit is “a symbol of God’s power or presence but is not a living entity.”

But it is not just American Christians. Even the Pope has gone off the beaten path.

Hindus are applauding Pope Benedict for including a verse from Hindu scripture in the Good Friday Meditations and Prayers that was led by him at the Roman Colosseum.

The “Way of the Cross at the Colesseum” Meditations and Prayers on Good Friday included a verse from Brahadaranyakopanishad ("Lead me from the unreal to the real, from darkness to light, from death to immortality."), a line from Tagore’s Gitanjali ("Give me the strength to make my love fruitful in service."), and a reference to Mahatma Gandhi.

Since when does a "Christian" leader include Hindu scriptures in a Good Friday service?

Apparently now.

The reality is that Christianity is falling apart and is rapidly declining in western countries.

But where a void is left behind, other forces are eager to rush in and fill it.

Now Kabbalah classes are being taught in California public schools.

The program is called "Spirituality for Kids" and it is offered in Los Angeles public elementary schools during the day or after school.

"Spirituality for Kids" was created by a leader of the Kabbalah Centre International, and it actively promotes New Age spiritualism.

The following is one exchange between a teacher and a student that was witnessed by a writer for the L.A. Times:

"What does greater satisfaction bring?" she asks. Matthew replies: "Spiritual power!"

Zucker asks him where the power comes from? "Your inner light," the boy answers.

And where is that light found? "In your heart," he says.

Since 2006, almost 4,400 Los Angeles children have taken part in "Spirituality for Kids". The Spirituality for Kids Foundation reportedly has almost 18 million dollars in assets, and celebrity Kabbalah devotees such as Madonna are among its funders.

So Kabbalah gets to be taught in public schools, but if you say the name of Jesus you get taken to federal court.

What a great country we live in, eh?

Education Reform?

A government blueprint for a new primary curriculum in the U.K. is so bizarre that it is hard to describe. Instead of learning about the Romans, Vikings, Tudors or World War II, elementary students will be force fed lessons on sex, drugs and Twitter.

This new blueprint was developed by former Ofsted chief Sir Jim Rose following a request from Children's Secretary Ed Balls.

The following are some of the lowlights from this plan for U.K. education reform.....

*Compulsory sex education will start when children are five years old.

*Nine year old children will be given drug and alcohol education.

*There will be less emphasis on history and instead students will learn about Twitter, Wikipedia and blogging.

*Sustainability and global warming will be key elements of the curriculum.

Sustainability and global warming?

That must be the fiction portion of the curriculum.

But the most disturbing part is the compulsory sex education for five year olds.

What possible justification is there for showing a five year old kid how to put a condom on a banana?

The reality is that the sooner you teach kids about sex, the sooner they are going to want to do it.

Five year old kids cannot handle sexual information.

America is rapidly swirling down the moral toilet, but it seems that the U.K. is determined to get to the bottom even before the U.S.

The truth is that both countries have completely rejected the ways of God, and things have gotten so bad that almost every day now we see new signs of moral decay in both nations.

Girls Who Married Frogs & Boys Who Suffer 1000 Cuts To Be A Man

Without a doubt, our world has an endless supply of weird stuff to write about. As part of an ancient Hindu ceremony, two Hindu girls in India actually married frogs recently.

Yes, that is right.

Frogs.

These two seven-year-old girls in India married frogs last week in an effort to help protect their village.

These marriages were conducted as part of the ancient "Pongal" harvest ceremony that the villagers believe will help prevent the "outbreak of mysterious diseases" in their village.

The good news is that those marriage were not considered to be permanent, and the green grooms were allowed to hop back to the water after the ceremony was completed.

If you think that is weird, then you should brace yourself for this next story.

Have you ever had a really deep papercut?

Do you remember how incredibly painful it can be?

What the boys of one tribe have to go through to "become a man" is going to horrify and shock many of you.

As a sign of entry into manhood, boys of one tribe suffer thousands of razor-blade cuts until their skin resembles a crocodile.

We encourage you to watch the following video that examines this phenomenon, but we warn you that if you have a weak stomach you may not be able to watch it all.....

The sad thing is that the people in both stores above take their ceremonies very, very seriously.

They actually believe that the ceremonies and rituals will do them some good.

But the truth is that the only thing that will truly benefit any of us in the long run is the truth.

So what is the truth?

The reality is that if you examine the evidence for most religions you won't find anything there.

But there is one glaring exception.

The Christian faith.

If you have never examined the evidence for Christianity, we would very much encourage you to do so.

The following is a great place to get started.....

On Oprah 2 Christian Pastors Declare "Being Gay Is A Gift From God"

On a recent broadcast of the Oprah Winfrey show, not one, but two Christian pastors emphatically declared that "being gay is a gift from God."

In fact, in the stunning video footage below you will see one of the Christian ministers tell a gay person that he "is gay by divine right" and that part of being made in the image and likeness of God is to be gay because God made him that way.

Just check out this amazing video footage. You will definitely want to watch it more than once.....

Now Oprah's very strong promotion of gay marriage and the gay agenda has been known for a long time, but she has definitely taken things to a whole new level by having Christian ministers on her show who are openly teaching that being gay is a gift from God.

This is just another indication of the extent to which Oprah Winfrey is willing to go to try to influence spirituality in America.

Earlier this week we published an article on our new blog entitled "Oprah Winfrey: Preparing The Way For The One World Religion?" which went into great detail in explaining how Oprah is attempting to reshape and redefine traditional Christianity. Oprah does not simply have a personal obsession with "spirituality" at this point. Now she is actively attempting to become one of the most influential spiritual leaders of this generation.

As far as the Christian ministers on Oprah's program, perhaps they have never had the chance to read Romans 1:26-27.....

Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.

The reality is that the vast majority of Americans are now bound up in a variety of sexual sin: adultery, fornication, pornography, lust, orgies, etc. etc.

We should dearly love everyone who is caught up in any type of sin and pray that they will turn to God and be set free.

These are the end times and the reality is that wickedness is going to continue to increase. As sin continues to prosper, may we all dramatically increase our love so that we may shine like lights in the darkness.

Questions To Ask The Next Atheist Who Thinks That They Are Smarter Than Everyone Else

We have all run into them - atheists who love to mock religion and who think that they are the smartest people in the room.

The next time you run into such a person, take a few questions from the following list and see how that atheist handles them.....

-----

How do you explain the high degree of design and order in the universe if there is no God?

How do you account for the vast archaeological documentation of Biblical stories, places, and people?

Since absolutely no Bible prophecy has ever failed (and there are hundreds), how can one realistically remain unconvinced that the Bible is of divine origin?

How do you explain David's graphic portrayal of Jesus' death by crucifixion (Psalm 22) 1000 years before Christ lived?

How do you explain that the prophet Daniel prophesied the exact YEAR when the Christ would be presented as Messiah and also prophesied that the temple would be destroyed afterward over 500 years in advance (Daniel 9:24-27)?

How could any mere human pinpoint the birth town of the Messiah seven full centuries before the fact, as did the prophet Micah?

How do you account for the odds (1 in 10 to the 157th power) that even just 48 (of 300) Old Testament prophecies were fulfilled in Jesus Christ?

How was it possible for the Old Testament prophet Isaiah to have predicted the virgin birth of Jesus (Isaiah 7:14) 700 years before it occurred?

How can anyone doubt the reliability of Scripture considering the number and the proximity to the originals of its many copied manuscripts?

In what sense was Jesus a "good man" if He was lying in His claim to be God?

If the Bible is not true, why is it so universally regarded as "the Good Book"?

Are you aware that the Old Testament alone claims to be God's inspired word at least 2600 times?

Did you know that the Bible has been the number one bestseller every year since the 1436 invention of the Gutenberg printing press?

If God does not exist, then from where comes humanity's universal moral sense?

If man is nothing but the random arrangement of molecules, what motivates you to care and to live honorably in the world?

Can you explain how personality could have ever evolved from the impersonal, or how order could have ever resulted from chaos?

If Jesus' resurrection was faked, why would twelve intelligent men (Jesus' disciples) have died for what they knew to be a lie?

How do you explain the fact that a single, relatively uneducated and virtually untraveled man, dead at age 33, radically changed lives and society to this day?

Why have so many of history's greatest thinkers been believers?

Have you ever wondered why thousands of intelligent scientists, living and dead, have been men and women of great faith?

Isn't it somewhat arrogant to suggest that countless churches and people (including men like Abraham Lincoln) are all radically in error in their view of the Bible?

How do you account for the origin of life considering the irreducible complexity of its essential components?

How can the Second Law of Thermodynamics be reconciled with progressive, naturalistic evolutionary theory?

How do you reconcile the existence of human intelligence with naturalism and the Law of Entropy?

Why does the Bible alone, of all of the world's holy books, contain such detailed prophecies of future events?

Is it absolutely true that "truth is not absolute" or only relatively true that "all things are relative?"

Is it possible that your unbelief in God is actually an unwillingness to submit to Him?

Does your present worldview provide you with an adequate sense of meaning and purpose?

How do you explain the radically changed lives of so many Christian believers down through history?

Are you aware that every alleged Bible contradiction has been answered in an intelligible and credible manner?

What do you say about the hundreds of scholarly books that carefully document the veracity and reliability of the Bible?

Why and how has the Bible survived and even flourished in spite of centuries of worldwide attempts to destroy and ban its message?

Have you ever considered the fact that Christianity is the only religion whose leader is said to have risen from the dead?

How do you explain the empty tomb of Jesus in light of all the evidence that has now proven essentially irrefutable for twenty centuries?

If Jesus did not actually die and rise from the dead, how could He (in His condition) have circumvented all of the security measures in place at His tomb?

If the authorities stole Jesus' body, why?

Why would they have perpetrated the very scenario that they most wanted to prevent?

If Jesus merely resuscitated in the tomb, how did He deal with the Roman guard posted just outside its entrance?

How can one realistically discount the testimony of over 500 witnesses to a living Jesus following His crucifixion (see 1 Corinthians 15:6)?

If all of Jesus' claims to be God were the result of His own self-delusion, why didn't He show evidence of lunacy in any other areas of His life?

Is your unbelief in a perfect God possibly the result of a bad experience with an imperfect church or a misunderstanding of the facts, and therefore an unfair rejection of God Himself?

How did 35-40 men, spanning 1500 years and living on three separate continents, ever manage to author one unified message, i.e. the Bible?

Would you charge the Declaration of Independence with error in affirming that "all men are endowed by their Creator..."?

Because life origins are not observable, verifiable, or falsifiable, how does the theory of "evolution" amount to anything more than just another faith system?

What do you make of all the anthropological studies indicating that even the most remote tribes show some sort of theological awareness?

If every effect has a cause, then what or who caused the universe?

How do you explain the thousands of people who have experienced heaven or hell and have come back to tell us about it?

How do you explain the countless people who have received miracles from God?

Is there any evidence that would satisfy you and persuade you to become a believer, or are you just going to believe what you WANT to believe?

Should A Christian Be Involved With Yoga?

Should a Christian be involved with yoga?

There are literally thousands and thousands of Christians across the United States and Canada who are taking "Christian yoga" classes this very day.

In fact, there are websites like www.christianyoga.com that enthusiastically promote a "Christian" form of these ancient practices.

The truth is that over ten million Americans are practicing some form of yoga, but the vast majority of them have absolutely no idea what they are involving themselves in. The reality is that you can't take yoga out of Hinduism and you can't take the Hinduism out of yoga.

For instance, did you know that "yoga" is literally a Sanskrit word that means to yoke with Brahman?

Did you know that many of the mantras that yoga instructors have their followers chant are actually the names of Hindu gods?

Did you know that many of the practices of yoga are specifically designed to call forth Hindu deities?

Did you know that a large percentage of those who get involved with yoga also get involved with Hinduism, New Age religion and the occult?

The truth is that yoga and Christianity are diametrically opposed to each other, and if you are a Christian that is involved with yoga then you really need to watch this short YouTube video:

52% Of U.S. Christians Believe Jesus Is Not The Only Way To Heaven

It's official. Two major surveys are showing that the majority of American Christians believe that accepting Jesus Christ as savior is NOT the only way to eternal life.

USAToday is reporting on an almost unbelievable new survey that has found that 52 percent of American Christians believe that eternal life is not exclusively for those who accept Jesus Christ as their savior.

A different survey that was taken earlier this year by the Pew Research Center's Forum on Religion & Public Life found that 57 percent of evangelical Christians in America believe that "many religions can lead to eternal life".

That shocking study revealed what many Christians have known for quite some time - apostasy among "evangelical Christians" is spreading, and it is spreading rapidly.

Evangelical Christians are supposedly those who follow the teachings of the Bible the closest. But this survey shows that even a majority of them do not even believe in the most fundamental precepts of the Christians faith.

For example, John 14:6 says the following:

Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

If there was another way for our sins to be forgiven, then why did Jesus need to die on the cross? If there were other ways to salvation, then Jesus could have come down to earth, pointed out a bunch of other ways to get to heaven, and then could have gone back up to heaven without having to deal with the cross.

But the reality is that there was no other way for our sins to be paid for.

And yet these new surveys reveal that a majority of American Christians now believe that there are other ways to heaven.

The Pew survey also revealed that 45% of Americans as a whole say they seldom or never read their religion's holy books.

Perhaps if more Americans were reading the Bible then they would know what is truth and what is error. Instead, Americans have surrounded themselves with preachers and self-help coaches and ministers who tell them what they want to hear, who always make them feel comfortable and who never tell them about sin, holiness or the judgment of God.

The current situation in America reminds us of 2 Timothy 4:3.....

For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.

Should A Christian Practice Yoga? Find Out The Stunning Truth In Our New YouTube Video - Yoga: Gateway To Hinduism, New Age Religion And The Occult

We are very excited to announce the release of our brand new YouTube video.

If you have watched our YouTube videos in the past, it may surprise you that we have made a video about yoga.

But after we began researching this topic, we discovered that the truth about yoga is more shocking than we ever imagined it would be.

Well over 10 million Americans are now practicing some form of yoga, but the vast majority of these people have absolutely no idea what they are involving themselves in.

The truth is that you can't take yoga out of Hinduism and you can't take the Hinduism out of yoga.

For instance, did you know that "yoga" is literally a Sanskrit word that means to yoke with Brahman?

The truth is that yoga and Christianity are completely opposed to each other.

Humanists Launch "Why Believe In A God?" Ads On D.C. Buses

Controversial new ads that declare, "Why believe in a god? Just be good for goodness' sake" will appear on Washington D.C. buses beginning next week and will continue to appear through the end of December. These provocative ads are being paid for by the American Humanist Association, and they are spending 40,000 dollars to get their point across.

"We don’t want atheists to be left alone in their convictions over the holidays," stated Roy Speckhardt, the American Humanist Association’s executive director, who announced the new ad campaign at the National Press Club on Tuesday.

Speckhardt also add this: "Morality doesn’t come from religion. It’s a set of values based on empathy, fairness, and experience – and these all happen to be the essence of the humanist worldview."

This ad campaign is just another example of the recent trend for atheist and humanist groups to be more "in your face" with their message.

"We are trying to reach our audience, and sometimes in order to reach an audience, everybody has to hear you," explained Fred Edwords, another spokesman for the American Humanist Association. "Our reason for doing it during the holidays is there are an awful lot of agnostics, atheists and other types of non-theists who feel a little alone during the holidays because of its association with traditional religion."

But this idea is not exactly original.

Just last month, the British Humanist Association made worldwide headlines by announcing a similar campaign on London buses that proclaimed this message:

"There's probably no God. Now stop worrying and enjoy your life."

No Roman Council Decided What Would Go Into The Bible - The Books Of The New Testament Canon Had Been Determined Long Before Then

One of the reasons that the moral fabric of America is coming apart like a 20 dollar suit is that Americans have rejected the authority of the Bible as the Word of God.

There has been a relentless assault on the Bible in America's movies, television, literature and other media. But rather than being able to defend the Bible, we have noticed in our interactions with America's pastors and spiritual leaders that most of them have NO IDEA where the Bible came from.

In particular, we have noticed that there is serious confusion regarding the development of the New Testament.

Even most Christian "leaders" have fallen for the misconception that a bunch of people sat around a big table during some grand "council" (such as the Council of Nicaea) called by Rome and picked out which books would go into the Bible.

First of all, the canon of the New Testament was not even remotely on the agenda at the Council of Nicaea:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Council_of_Nicaea

But that hasn't stopped Dan Brown, the author of the Davinci Code, and many others from trying to promote the claim that that New Testament books were not decided upon until the 4th century during the Roman Catholic councils.

So does this claim have any merit whatsoever?

Well, for starters, Dan Brown is not a religious expert in the least. In fact, Dan Brown admitted in court that his wife did most of the research for the Davinci Code:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2006/mar/12/books.danbrown

The truth is that the Davinci Code is interesting fiction, but the facts about the New Testament tell us an entirely different story:

Fact #1) Paul's letters were already considered scripture in the mid 1st century. Take a look at how the apostle Peter himself called Paul's letters Scripture:

2 Peter 3:14-16

So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him. Bear in mind that our Lord's patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him. He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.

Fact #2) The apostle Paul, writing between A.D. 62 and A.D. 65, quoted Luke 10:7 and called it Scripture:

Luke 10:7

Stay in that house, eating and drinking whatever they give you, for the worker deserves his wages.

Now look at how Paul quoted Luke 10:7 as Scripture in 1 Timothy 5:18....

For the Scripture says, "Do not muzzle the ox while it is treading out the grain," and "The worker deserves his wages."

This clearly establishes that the apostle Paul himself considered the gospel of Luke to be Scripture in the middle of the 1st century.

Fact #3) Irenaeus, writing about 170 A.D., tells us that the four-fold gospel was already a rock solid fact by then:

But it is not possible that the Gospels can be either more or fewer in number than they are. For since there are four zones of the world in which we live, and four principal winds, while the church has been scattered throughout the world, and since the "pillar and ground" of the church is the Gospel and the spirit of life, it is fitting that she should have four pillars, breathing incorruption on every side, and vivifying human afresh. From this fact, it is evident that the Logos, the fashioner [demiourgos] of all, he that sits on the cherubim and holds all things together, when he was manifested to humanity, gave us the gospel under four forms but bound together by one spirit. (Against Heresies 3.11.8)

Fact #4) The fact of the four-fold gospel is also reflected in the "Muratorian Fragment" which was written about the same time (around 170 A.D.) that Irenaeus was writing. The Muratorian Fragment lists for us almost the entire New Testament canon. The document may have indeed been a complete list of New Testament books, but we only have a portion of the ancient document. While we do not have the very beginning of the document or the end of the document, the portion of the document that we do have tells us that there are FOUR (and only four) gospels.

Fact #5) We have approximately 50 manuscripts of the New Testament that PRE-DATE the Roman takeover of the established church in the 4th century. So there WAS a New Testament before Rome ever called a "council".

Fact #6) We have more than 32 THOUSAND New Testament quotations from the early church writers of the 2nd and 3rd centuries. In fact, we could recreate virtually the entire New Testament just from the quotes of the early church writers of the 2nd and 3rd centuries. We can be QUITE certain that the New Testament we have today has come down to us just as it was from the earliest days, and we can be QUITE certain what the early Christians of the 2nd and 3rd centuries considered to be Scripture.

Yes, the Roman government came along in the 4th century and corrupted and paganized the institutional church. There were many Christians who resisted this, and they were persecuted brutally. However, Christianity and the Bible were doing JUST FINE before Rome ever came on the scene.
