Yes, a thinly veiled attempt to bring religion into public schools is unconstitutional. What purpose does a moment of silence have? If an individual wants to have a moment of silence, there is nothing stopping them. When a *real* moment happens that deserves silence, no laws are needed.

Yes, telling people that they cannot do something because a child might witness it, is also unconstitutional. Ever see live surgery? It is far more shocking and revolting than anything pr0n could produce. A child could potentially walk in on surgery, could see it online, etc. Should we ban surgery? Maybe that is too absurd of an example. Hmm R-rated movies with any amount of nudity could possibly be held liable under such a law.

Really, do you want your actions to be limited by what some puritanical individual deems inappropriate for other people's children?

We can only trace history of these things as far back as the great flood. Before that the only historical record we have it's the first 8 chapters of Genesis. Given that Noah and his family all worshiped the one true God, it would seem that all the false gods and goddesses must have come from a period around the first post flood civilisation, Babel, which means that we are looking at an origin in Nimrod, Semiramis & Tammuz.

"The Church" is a phrase that has come a long way from its original and intended definition. Today, we have so many denominations and church affiliations that it's difficult to know which church stands for what? Jesus is coming back one day, not for an institution or a group of people that have labeled themselves "Christians", He is coming back for those that know Him and have a personal relationship with Him. You can't fool God, He knows every heart because He is the creator of every heart - He designed every single one of us. He sees the harm that "The Church" has done and He laments over the pain that has been dealt to so many of His children. But, might I just speak a word of encouragement: God loves all people and is more concerned with having your heart than your actions. God loves all people (that includes homosexuals, murderers, and those that don't believe in Him). The apostle Paul (formerly known as Saul) had an occupation and passion for hunting down and killing Christians, and yet, He ended up writing most of the New Testament and was a mighty instrument used by God. God knows that once he has your heart, the rest will follow. One shouldn't look to the church for salvation or a divine relationship with their creator - such things are found by and through one person and that is Jesus Christ. The local church that you attend should be a place of safety and covering that you can go to for strengthening when you are weak and rejoicing when you are blessed. It is a place to be spiritually fed by an anointed pastor/priest who teaches only what is found in the Bible. It is a place to form relationships with fellow believers in Christ and a place to welcome newcomers who have never had a relationship with Him. We are to take them in just as they are - flaws and all, for this is the biblical example of how Jesus took in the outcasts of the world. For none of us have arrived - we all fall short of the glory of a perfect God, no man can boast of what he has done because he still does and always will make mistakes! Ultimately, I just want to say, I've read the posts above and it sounds like there have been some really bad experiences in church. But, there are and can still be some really good and worthwhile experiences as well. If you are unhappy with the church you are attending and you don't feel like the teaching is lining up with the Bible, switch churches! Like I mentioned earlier, there are so many good churches out there so why put up with a bad one that represents God in such a poor manner? Churches are made up of imperfect people. For this reason, they are prone to make mistakes. We would be wise to not over-invest in people but rather to put our trust in the Lord. I will close with my favorite verse and a most relevant one for this topic: Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; acknowledge Him in all your ways and He will make your path straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6)

I agree Dom with what you said. I used to watch the Oprah show all the time and I admit that. But when she continued on with her "New Age" beliefs, I began growing tired of it. I know good people and I understand that she is a good person, but if you claim Christianity and hold high influence, then you should be very careful with your actions. In the New Testament there is a story of a girl who had a 'spirit' in her that told the future.. she began to follow the apostles around and shout" These men are servants of the Most High God, who are telling you the way to be saved." Finally Paul became so troubled after she followed them around for many days he turned to the girl and said "In the name of Jesus Christ, I command you come out of her!"(Acts 16:16-18) God does not approve of psychics and I know Oprah has allowed psychics in her show. Now even Satan believes in God.. Oprah may just be another tool in his full tool belt to mislead and cause confusion amongst Christians and non Christians alike. Satan can cover up things with a pretty little bow and eye catching wrapping paper.. if it was that easy to discern the bad from the good, Satan wouldn't be getting as much of a following. God does warn us to be cautious.. if people find that to be judge mental than let them. God knows Oprah's heart and He will be there at judgement.. but I will not be a part of misleading others down the wrong path and that's encouraging people to follow the 'Oprah way' instead of the 'eternal way' which is only through Jesus.. not any other way!

Hilarious. I love reading naive christian comments. Don't get me wrong, I believe my spirit exists; how else can my mind exist? How do I Feel? How do I know the difference between doing what's right and wrong? Among many other questions and observations.

That being said, I'm also NOT an idiot. God did NOT snap his fingers and create life. Although, he may have given me a soul, I do believe in evolution. Everything evolves. Through some act of random luck the right proteins and elements did align and create some kind of single celled organism. From there it's been survival of the fittest. Giraffes with long necks had a better chance at surviving and reproducing because they could reach the leaves that other animals couldn't. Animals that hunt have evolved with tools for hunting, claws, teeth, camouflage, eyes that allow focusing on prey. Prey have evolved with an ability to survive, endurance, eyes on the sides of their heads provide a wider range of view (in some cases can see nearly 360 degrees around them), camouflage in both groups or blending in. In birds, the male is usually a brighter and more obvious prey. The females are usually less obvious. A single male can repopulate an entire region as long as females are abundant in just 1 season. If you don't believe in evolution, explain my appendix, what did my appendix do 1500 years ago? Explain why all mammals share so many similarities? Milk, hair, child-bearing, teeth organs, the list goes on. If you don't believe in evolution, you're not being rational, and the argument is over.
