R. Kelly Has Finalized His Divorce

World famous R&B artist R. Kelly has finalized his divorce from Andrea Lee Kelly, his wife of 11 years.

In a joint statement, the lawyers for the two sides said: "The parties have reached an amicable resolution concerning all issues related to their marriage, and will share joint custody of their three children."

But should we be rough on R. Kelly?

After all, divorce is practically an epidemic in the United States.

Did you know that January is consistently the month when the most divorces are filed? Perhaps enough is enough for a lot of couples after a really bad Christmas. Who knows?

Meanwhile, the divorce rate among members of the U.S. Army and Marines experienced another increase this year. Long deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan are being blamed for this.

One U.S. man who is divorcing his wife is actually demanding that she return the kidney that he once donated to her.

Return a kidney?

Now THAT is bitter.

But before we throw stones at that guy, let us remember that divorce is absolutely rampant in America. Just check out this picture of a "divorce cake".....

Divorce is at record levels in America, and sadly it is as common in the church as it is in the broader society.

Here are some facts about divorce in America.....

The percentage of the population that is divorced: 10% (up from 8% in 1990, and 6% in 1980).

Only 63% of American children grow up with both biological parents - the lowest figure in the entire Western world.

The percentage of married people who reach their 50th wedding anniversaries in America: 5%

But even more disturbing is the number of couples in America who are just throwing out marriage altogether and are living together without ever getting married.

A recent study reveals that since 1970, the number of Americans living together has increased from about 500,000 opposite sex couples to more than five million.

America has truly rejected the ways of the Lord.
