Even as the U.S. military continues to put restrictions on using the name of Jesus and on members of the military sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ, they have launched two new initiatives to make the U.S. military more welcoming for gays and for pagans.
For example, the U.S. Defense Department starts the clock next week on what is expected to be a several-year process in lifting its ban on gays serving openly in the military. Now that Barack Obama openly called for the end of the ban on gays in the military during his State of the Union speech, it looks like it is only a matter of time before this is going to become a reality.
In addition, the U.S. Air Force Academy is officially adding a worship area for pagans which will be dedicated during a ceremony scheduled for March 10th. A stone circle located on a hill overlooking the Cadet Chapel will join Protestant, Catholic, Jewish, Muslim and Buddhist sacred spaces at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs.
So what do all of you think of these changes to the U.S. military? Feel free to leave a comment with your thoughts....
